I figured if I pull the covers over my eyes and roll over

I'd never have to get out of bed and take my baby off to high school today. But, the world doesn't work that way, and our kids grow up and we nudge them along, albeit begrudgingly at times, to adulthood. Outwardly I can be the supportive mom, but inwardly tears are flowing. I'm proud of my girl, already so much an adult. She is going to be fine in that vast, echoing building, that holds one of the best high schools in our state, it's just going to take a few days to convince me of that.

We concluded our wonderful summer last night with the annual "night before the first day of school mani/pedi" watching Finding Nemo. There are few things that right our little world better then a nice manicure and foot massage. Chopper stored up an entire days worth of hugs as Marlin pursued Nemo.

The sun is rising in a post Gustav ball of flame, and the shower beckons, just not quite as loud as the covers....

You're doing great as a mother.

When I talk to my mother who is 3 states away, she cries every time. She misses me and I miss her too, but I like the distance. That sounds awful, but one day I won't be able to call her anymore. Got to be a big girl!

Hyphen Girl is the best. You've no worries there, and its due to your parenting.

We spend the first two years of their lives encouraging them to walk and talk, and the next 16 years telling them to sit down and shush.

HG in high school!

That's definitely a benchmark worthy of some inward tears.

They grow up quickly, I am sure this is one of those lessons I am going to go through when my two get to that age. Currently just enjoying their talking (well chirps and squeaks and smiles)
How did her day go?

Ya know what? She looks like someone I would have wanted to hang with when I was in high school... and I was a nice boy... she's going to do GREAT! I mean really... look at her parents!
